La Flor Dominicana just announced the creation of a new Candela-wrapped line of cigars. The La Flor Dominicana Double Claro will feature a unique Ecuadorian Claro wrapper. Litto Gomez used a blend of Dominican tobaccos for the filler and finished it with a Nicaraguan binder. Three sizes are available in the line.
Back in the day nearly all cigars used a Candela wrapper. By the 1970's the wrapper leaf was falling out of favor with cigar smokers. Now, only a handful of manufacturers produce Candela cigars. Litto Gomez has always been known as an innovator in the cigar industry (creating new shapes and experimenting with unique blends) but it's nice to see him reach back to the past to bring back a classical-styled cigar.
